Worship:
Worship is a significant part of our ministry at Fellowship Bible
Church. We wish to create an atmosphere that allows worship to be meaningful,
personal, and "livable" for people of all ages.
Meaningful
King David recorded for us many of the Psalms of the Old Testament. They are
his treatise on worship. When we read them we are struck with the reality that
the worship of the Lord meant a great deal to this Israelite king. For Davis,
worship was a meaningful experience. Likewise it's effect in our lives should
not be easily forgotten. We want your worship at FBC to be one that refreshes
you throughout the week.
Personal
We wish to create an environment in which you are given time alone with God.
Because we teach that man can have a personal relationship with God, we want our
worship to provide you with the opportunity to further develop that
relationship.
Liveable
We believe that worship should not be limited to Sundays. Worship should be
the practice of the believer throughout the week. To glorify God means to put
His attributes on display. At FBC that means we encourage our people to live
lives that exemplify Christ throghout the week.
Our Worship
At Fellowship Bible Church we strive, through our worship
services to create an environment where you can personally evaluate your
relationship with God. Our Time of Reflection provides the opportunity for you
to read and meditate on a Biblical passage for yourself. In the quietness of
your own heart, God is given room to speak to you personally. During our Time of
Praise the congregation participates in singing a unique blend of music,
incorporation some of the contemporary choruses with many of the rich hymns of
the faith. During our Tome of Instruction you will discover life-changing truths
from the Bible and receive encouragement on how they can be directly applied to
your personal life.
At FBC we attempt to provide an atmosphere in our Worship
Services that will be a source of enrichment for you in your daily living.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the
Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture. Psalm
95:6,7
What is Worship
Often worship is perceived only as taking place during the church service, or
through singing, or when several Christians come together. Certainly worship can
take place in those settings, but the Bible's teaching is that there is more to
it than that.
In Romans 12:1 Paul says, "I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which
is your spiritual service of worship. Paul is making the case that the acts of
obedience we commit with our bodies are the practice of worship.
Our English word worship comes from the old Anglo-Saxon word worthship. It
means "to ascribe special worth to someone or something."
In the Biblical sense it means to place great worth in the Person of the Lord
Jesus Christ. We worship Him by acts of obedience for all He has done for us.
God is Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in
truth. John 4:24
